Exodus 34:23-24 : “Three times in the year shall all thy males appear before the Lord Jehovah, the God of Israel. For I will cast out nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou goest up to appear before Jehovah thy God three times in the year.”

God gave to the children of Israel three feasts that they were to celebrate for perpetuity: Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles. At each feast all of the men of Israel were commanded to come to Jerusalem and present themselves before the God of covenant. God’s promise given back to them was that no foreign power would attack their homes and lands when the men were in Jerusalem for the feast. God promised Israel that if they would be faithful to put God first then He would do two things: cast out the nations from before them and to enlarger their borders.

I have seen continually throughout my life that when I make every effort to put God first, I will almost instantly draw an attack from our enemy, the devil. But in the end, God will vanquish my enemies and will enlarge me. God will get rid of the those things robbing me, and He will enlarge the limits of my capacities; this is God’s promise to us and God’s plan for our lives.

The question to meditate on today is this: Where have I failed to put God first in my life?

We can pray and plead with God to bless us and get rid of our enemies. But if we are not putting God first in everything then our prayers will not avail to much. Sometimes, God will actually give power to our enemies to come against us to demonstrate to us that we are NOT putting Him first in all things.

I encourage you today to ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten you and to show you in what areas you are not putting God first in your life. Repent then of this and pledge your heart to God that in all things you will put Him first.

Once you have done that, then you can ask Him to give you power over all your enemies and to enlarge the limits of your capacities.
