Genesis 9:26 « And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant. 27 God enlarge Japheth, And let him dwell in the tents of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant. »
After the flood Noah planted a vineyard; he drank from the wine he made. In his drunkeness he uncovered himself in his tent and one of his three sons went into the tent and sinned against his father. When Noah awoke from his drunkeness he knew what his son had done to him. And he pronounced a curse upon his offspring. He then pronounced a blessing on his two other sons who had covered their father in his sin.
His blessing included the following phrase: May God enlarge Japheth … and let Canaan be his servant. From the blessing flowed the promise of Messiah and the descendants include Abraham and Moses and the children of Israel. From the curse flowed the numerous people that lived in the land of Canaan which were eventually conquered by the people of God during the time of Joshua.
God’s blessing upon our lives is always seen through the process of enlargement. The curse is seen through slavery. When we come to Christ God wants to release us from the curse of slavery that came to us through a life of sin. As a Christian, when we yield our soul again to the power of sin, the spirit of slavery begins to creep back upon us.
You were not born to live under any kind of slavery. You were born to grow, to enlarge your sphere of influence, and to prosper in all things. This is God’s promised blessing to you.
I encourage you today to repent of any sin that is hindering you from moving forward in God and in His plan for your life. Maybe it is fear, anger, bitterness, lust, envy, or any number of any other habitual sin in your life. This is the time to cleanse ourselves from the things that can hinder God’s grace from having its perfect work in our lives.
One son of Noah sinned and it led his descendants into slavery. Two sons of Noah acted in righteousness and it released to them the blessing of enlargement. Repent today, and give God every opportunity to bless you with enlargement.
