John 10:10 “The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.”
1 Samuel 7:14 “The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel recovered its border out of the hand of the Philistines. There was peace between Israel and the Amorites.”
The Bible tells us that all the days of the prophet Samuel, Israel subdued the Philistines. And not only was there peace, Israel was able to have restored to them numerous cities which had been taken by their enemies.
The devil is a thief. He will steal from you and then convince you that you deserved it. He will rob you of your inheritance and from any desire to take it back.
Jesus, however, came to give us life; and to have it in abundance. It is implied here that anything that the thief had stolen, killed or destroyed would be restored.
It is written in the book of Proverbs that if a man steals he must restore what he is stolen seven fold! (See Proverbs 6:30-31) Dear Christian, you must not be passive about the things that have been stolen from you. I understand you may be tired of confrontation; but if you don’t stand up and reclaim what God has promised you, who will do it for you?
Earlier in the days of Joshua, all of the tribes had received their inheritance. But by the end of his life, many of the tribes still had not taken possession of the land God promised them. (See Joshua chapter 13) God gave them the promise; but the children of Israel had to go to war in order to take what God had given them by His word.
In the same way, you have received many promises from God about your life. These promises represent the inheritance you have received thanks to Jesus Christ. But the devil has been stealing, killing and destroying these promises since the first day you began to believe them.
But this is a new season. And God is restoring you to your inheritance; and restoring your inheritance to you. But you must stand in faith, push back the devil from your spiritual lands, and reclaim what God has promised.
Take some time today and write down the things that you believe deep in your heart God has promised you but you’ve seen these promises eroded over time. Then begin to worship the Lord with all your heart and thank Him for restoring what the devil has stolen.
