Thursday, 14 September 2017 – Find your destiny 

Jeremiah 1:5-7  Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart ; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Ah, Sovereign LORD, I said, I do not know how to speak ; I am only a child. But the Lord said to me, Do not say, I am only a child. You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.

I sincerely believe that each one of us has a destiny, established by God and confirmed in our lives by the new birth. But for many of us, knowing the details of this destiny seems rather difficult.

As a young Christian, every time I heard a preacher say « You have a destiny in God », I thought : « Of course, I would really like to know it ». Today I can assure you that, with time, patience and the help of the Holy Spirit, as well as spiritual mentors (thoughtful guides and experienced counselors), I learned to discover mine.

For me, the meaning of the word « destiny » is « to know the reason why you were born ». It is important to believe that you were born, not by accident, but because God had a specific reason to give you life. Living your destiny means to really enter into this purpose and give it your whole heart and soul.

The prophet Jeremiah, despite his amazing experience with God, saw himself as a baby, unable to enter a divine destiny. So his problem was not about revelation, but rather his own faith and surrender. Often, the same happens with us.

Here are three things that can help you better understand your destiny :

1. What do you love ? That love will develop into a passion to serve.

2. What don’t you like ? Often it reveals our area of spiritual warfare

3. What is a burden to you ? That is what you are called to heal.

Today, ask God to help you better know these three things and understand their meaning. Do not let confusion trap you; stay peaceful and ask for the Holy Spirit’s help.
