Isaiah 54:17 – « No weapon forged against you will prosper (prevail), and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. »
Those who have been Christians for a long time know how severe spiritual warfare can be. But young Christians all too often think that the battle is only for others. Alas, the fight is aimed at all the children of God.
Israel in the Bible, like Israel today, was surrounded by enemies. As a result, every member of the nation of Israel learned to fight. This was part of life.
In our text, we see that a weapon has been forged against each of us. This weapon is personalized, meaning that it’s adapted to who we are, to our personality, to our history, to our weaknesses.
The weapon is in fact a major lie that was activated from our conception, and that continues us throughout our life. The enemy uses it to « kill, steal and destroy » according to John 10:10. By using this weapon, he wants to limit us in the blessings that God has prepared for us, and turn us away from His ways.
BUT GOD has decreed that « this weapon will have no effect on you ». This decree came into effect in our lives by the death and resurrection of Jesus, who overthrew the entire power of the enemy that reigned over our lives. Thus, by the truth of His Word and the power of the Name of Jesus, each of us can live the reality: « Every weapon forged against me has no effect in my life! «
The Apostle Paul tells us that « the weapons of our warfare are NOT carnal (of the flesh), but mighty before God for the casting down of strongholds » (2 Cor. 10: 4). That is to say the weapons forged against us are not only spiritual weapons but also mental weapons. (Eph 6) This why we must overthrow every fortress, and every thought that rises up against the knowledge of God. (2 Cor 10: 5). And we are equipped to do it!
The devil comes against you with a lie or a negative word that gives rise to vain thoughts and opposes God. Those are the weapons that are forged against you. We can destroy them by the word of God, because truth always triumphs over lies. I encourage you today to grasp this biblical truth and apply it to your life. What negative thoughts do you struggle against most often? Ask God to reveal to you a promise in the Bible that can defend you against this attack. Equipped with the word of God, renounce believing in the lies. You will break the power of the demonic weapon forged against you. You will grow in liberty and authority, and God will be glorified. Thank you Lord for the perfection of Your salvation!
There is no victory without a battle. But we know we are fighting from a position of superiority, not defeat. Even Jesus, who was the way, the TRUTH, and the life, responded to the attack of the enemy with the living Word of God! The devil even tried to take Bible verses out of context ! But I love the way the story ends, after Jesus stood firm against the lies: And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that comes from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”
THEN THE DEVIL LEFT HIM and behold, ANGELS CAME AND MINISTERED TO HIM. » (Matt. 4:3-11) Expect the Lord to minister to you after the battle.
